To answer your original question: technically speaking the game is not badly ported. It just has some weird behavior when played at more than 60 frames-per-second. It's not a game for the masses. It has some peculiar design choices like the fact that you need to traverse a good bit of the map to reach your objectives.
Just trying to understand why someone would do this. Even hitting Quicksave actually generates a new and completely separate save, unlike the majority of games that overwrite the previous quicksave. Yea FC2 will never be stable enough to recommend overwriting saves. If space is a concern, just wipe the old ones later.
GTA IV (2008) used to not have achievements on Steam until very recently (like 1~2 years ago), and it also requires a 3rd party launcher. so it does make sense to implement them now, but it's up to ubi. #2. thirdkeeper Sep 24 @ 9:20am. There is no "devmode" in Far Cry 2, only in Far Cry (og) The second option to enable cheats is to do launch arguments(ie add '-GameProfile_GodMode 1' to the game's launch arguments) , which, in the end, does the exact same thing that this guide does.

Thanks RedSwirl, I've deleted the Far Cry 2 folder and will now reinstall again. So it should go back to default setup. You didn't have to do that, you just had to change these settings in the XML : Anyway it's too late now, so nevermind.
Everytime i try to open it on steam it shows up the splash and, after a few seconds, it says "Far Cry 2 stopped working". I can't get this to work, dammit. I could run this game before formating again my pc (i did it 2 days ago). Specs (laptop): i5 430M, HD 5650, 4 GB ram, 1600x900, etc. Last edited by Mask3r ; Jan 21, 2013 @ 5:11pm.
